Kitchen Tools To Make Your Life Easier

Kitchen Tools To Make Your Life Easier

In life, and in the kitchen, it’s the small things that really make the biggest difference. Sometimes that can even be just switching the type of tool you are using. A task can go from annoyingly frustrating to quick and painless. That’s what this series focuses on, making sure you are doing things that will make you want to stay in the kitchen and not run out! The easier it is for you to make healthy, delicious, food, the more likely you will actually do it. Hopefully, these tips will help you have a more enjoyable time in the kitchen!

Y-Peeler

Many home cooks have what is called a straight peeler. However, professionals use Y-peelers and there are some pretty good reasons.

  • The shape lets you hold it whether you are left handed or right handed! This is probably more important to a lefty, but hey equality! Also, if you know a lefty that likes to cook this would be a great gift!

  • They have a wider handle so they are much more comfortable to grip.

  • Once you get used to the new grip you can go much faster. It’s so easy to glide down whatever it is you are peeling.

They’re also very inexpensive! A three pack at the time of this blog post was around $10 on Amazon.

A Serrated Knife

I’m sure you already have this one at home. But, instead of cutting you bread or bagels, did you know they are great for cutting tomato slices? Yes, you can definitely use a sharp knife, but if your blade is on the duller side and it squishes the tomato as much as it does cut it, then try your serrated knife! Cut it in the same sawing motion you would a loaf of bread and you can have perfect slices without squishing any of the seeds out!

An Ice Cream Scoop

If you like to buy whole butternut squash then an ice cream scooper will be a great new friend! You can scoop out the seeds easily with one of these scoops. The sides are harder and usually sharper so it cuts through the fibers that are holding the seeds on. Then once you’ve scooped them up you can easily discard them by using the lever.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that really make the biggest difference. The easier it is for you to make healthy, delicious, food, the more likely you will actually do it. Hopefully, these tips will help you have a more enjoyable time in the kitchen!
